Statement of purpose: The purpose of the video which I made is to help me take some time prior to an interview to ground myself, put things into perspective, and feel as though I am at the utmost degree of preparedness. With regards to the effectiveness of the video, it should be used as a baseline in order to provide suggestions which may help the viewer feel more confident when the time comes for their interview. The tips and tricks which are offered by the video are several which I have found helpful in the past when preparing for stressful situations, though understandably, they can also be used as a stepping off point to shift into other techniques as well. For example, the video suggests conducting a mock interview, which is a helpful starting point, but how the aforementioned mock interview is actually conducted should be left to the discretion of the viewer – that is to say, whatever form they would personally find to be the most helpful.

As for how the form of my video supports its function, I decided to use a royalty free Lo-Fi track, because oftentimes Lo-Fi is what I listen to when I’m studying or trying to relax, so it has a tangible soothing effect to me. Additionally, for the clips used throughout the video, they were sourced from an online creative commons video library. I specifically chose to use videos which focus on beach settings, because the beach is where I go when I need to clear my mind. I found that blue text communicated a calming voice the best, and went for a font that was not excessively clinical, but also avoided silly fonts such as Sans or Wingdings in order to remain professional. The video itself was created and edited using Movavi and Davinci Resolve.
